# Archive-It

> One numbered collection's CDX/C index, and bodies replayed inside that collection.

<provider-facts slug="archiveIt">

</provider-facts>

## Load it

```ts
import { createArchive, providers } from "@agntn/archives";
const archive = createArchive(providers.archiveIt({ collection: 1234 }));
```

`collection` is required and must be numeric. It can also be given per call.

## What it lists

`snapshots` queries `wayback.archive-it.org/<collection>/timemap/cdx`, the CDX/C index scoped to that collection. `collapse` and `filter` pass through like on the Wayback Machine. Snapshot URLs stay inside the collection, `wayback.archive-it.org/<collection>/<timestamp>/<url>`.

An index scoped to a collection answers in index order and ignores bounds it does not support, so the provider pulls a bounded page of captures and picks the closest one locally rather than trusting the server to.

## Reading bodies

Same `id_` replay as the Wayback Machine, under the collection path. Only the host and the collection segment differ.

## Gotchas

- Every call needs the collection; a missing one is an error, not an empty listing.
- Different collections are different archives for provenance purposes. Diff within one.

## Where it lives

`src/providers/archive-it.ts`.
