# Conifer

> Read-only search inside an existing public Conifer collection. Needs a user and a collection; no bodies.

<provider-facts slug="conifer">

</provider-facts>

## Load it

```ts
import { createArchive, providers } from "@agntn/archives";
const archive = createArchive(providers.conifer({ user: "someone", collection: "their-collection" }));
```

Both `user` and `collection` are required; either can be given per call.

## What it lists

`snapshots` searches `conifer.rhizome.org` for the pages a public collection holds that match the target. Snapshot URLs point at the collection's own playback, `conifer.rhizome.org/<user>/<collection>/<timestamp>/<url>`.

## Reading bodies

Conifer serves captures through its own player, and the provider does not scrape it. `content()` answers `unsupported` with that reason.

## Gotchas

- Only public collections. A private one answers as empty, not as forbidden.
- Conifer collections are curated by people, not crawled; a domain with no entry in the collection simply has no history there.

## Where it lives

`src/providers/conifer.ts`.
