# Webarchiv Österreich

> The Austrian National Library's public CDXJ index, one exact URL per query, with id_ replay for bodies.

<provider-facts slug="webarchiv">

</provider-facts>

## Load it

```ts
import { createArchive, providers } from "@agntn/archives";
const archive = createArchive(providers.webarchiv());
const response = await archive.snapshots("https://www.onb.ac.at/");
```

## What it lists

`snapshots` queries `webarchiv.onb.ac.at/web/cdx`, a CDXJ endpoint that answers for one exact URL. A bare domain is normalised to its root URL; a wildcard pattern is rejected with a reason rather than sent. Rows carry `mime`, `digest` and `length` in `_meta`, and `status` when the index reports one.

## Reading bodies

Captures replay under `id_`, the same raw modifier the Wayback Machine uses, so the body is the original response.

## Gotchas

- Exact URL only. `example.com` means `http://example.com/`, not every page beneath it.
- The index can be slow for URLs it has never seen; ask every archive with a ten second timeout and it may show as timed out while the others answer.
- Coverage is Austrian: the archive crawls `.at` and sites of Austrian relevance.

## Where it lives

`src/providers/webarchiv.ts`.
